Did you know Alaska does not define “consent” in state law? This failure has led to repeated harm for Alaskans by making it extremely difficult to prosecute offenders. Consequently, our state has the highest rate of sexual assault in the United States.
House Bill 5 aims to correct this vulnerability and make Alaska safer for everyone by empowering our state to be among the strongest advocates for survivors in the nation. There are a few other parts to the bill being discussed this evening.
