Thank you to all who joined us for Part 1 & 2 of Courageous Conversations About Race: silence = consent. We are committed to doing this work for the betterment of our communities. In Part 2, we hit on topics from a local lens: How has institutional racism impacted Alaska? How have issues of race been addressed in education and policy – and what are the best ways to lend our support to these efforts? Part 3, our final conversation in the series, will take place on September 23rd. We will talk about the historical context of race in our nation – tackling questions to include: How has race impacted voters at the ballot box? How has racist imagery (in the context of the blaxploitation-era) continued to permeate in our society and create bias? How do issues around race become so divisive, and how can we (as a nation) move closer to a point where our differences are celebrated?
